Painting the fleeting light
Christy Young is an oil painter working across landscape, cloudscape, figurative, and floral subjects. Her practice is built around the alla prima method, using bold, expressive strokes to capture the spirit of a subject first, then layering refined detail on top. The driving obsession: light in motion, the way it shifts and transforms everything it touches. She works from her home studio in Richmond, Virginia and paints alongside her artistic community at Chelsea Classical Studios in New York City.
